5. Projects
- Alma Joy Villa Collaboration. August 14 – December 4, 2011; September 9, 2012; October 7, 2012. A project demonstrating CDM interventions to promote participation of four elderly residents with dementia functioning within ACL 3 and ACL 4 in their residential care facility. Residents’ functional cognitive abilities were assessed with LACLS and ADM assessments and skilled observation, and individual modified activities were recommended for each resident. Facility staff and family members were educated with two power point presentations, and methods for providing assistance were demonstrated in a card-making activity with residents. In follow-up interviews 9 months later staff reported increased participation of residents in social and modified activities and reported increased confidence in and satisfaction with their caregiving skills. All evaluation sessions were videotaped and used in subsequent presentations and publications for educational purposes. A binder with the program description, intervention methods and outcomes is posted here.
- Kelsey Project. May 15, 2016 – January 18, 2017. A project that demonstrated CDM interventions with a young man with residual functional cognitive impairments from closed head injury five months prior that prevented him from returning to work and functioning effectively in social situations. Data collected from interview, reports from friends, and observations of performance of daily tasks and standardized ACLS and ADM assessments were used to guide recommendations and complete reports to justify need for further assistance. Assessment sessions were videotaped and used in subsequent presentations and publications.

Inter-rater Reliability and Form-Equivalence Reliability for the Three Forms of Version 5 of the ACLS Screen [Pre-publication]. Copy of study design and findings at www.allencognitive.com/contact. The purpose of this research study was to obtain inter-rater reliability data regarding the degree of agreement among multiple Raters’ assigned scores for administration of each of the three forms of the 5th Version of the Allen Cognitive Level Screen: Allen Cognitive Level Screen-5 (ACLS-5), the Large Allen Cognitive Level Screen-5 (LACLS-5), and the Disposable Large Allen Cognitive Level Screen-5 (LACLS-5[D]).
